just dreamin'

regular guys get a little busy every now and again...i  have been so busy over the last couple of weeks that I have not been able to play any golf...i know, wtf? but while i am sitting at my desk doing the things that i do, i keep picturing these golf holes that i have played in the past, next thing i know i am playing a mental round of golf. so i realize that i am about to blow up or worse. got a round scheduled at the neuse for friday morning, and i literally cant wait. going to be playing with the marine the air force guy and another guy that i probably have not mentioned before, he is from south africa and not really sure what he does and i have never played a round with him before. he plays on one of the amateur tours that i play on and is a really regular guy...so i am really looking forward to friday. as usual i will give a report on the neuse, in case you are planning on playing soon.

hopefully my busy days are over for the summer and i can get back to playing on a daily basis.

look for a review of the neuse soon as well as the siler city cc, i am playing in a tournament there on saturday, until then golf your balls.

zebulon country club

most regular guys like a good deal...especially on a round of golf. they claim to be one of the best kept secrets in wake county...possibly... but...not today. the layout is good, a little short, but good. some demanding tee shots, some not so demanding. fairways were in good shape, with lots of grass. greens were in good condition, but a tad slow and they sanded them as we were playing...i know right. it's like what the hell did we do to you? we came to play and pay money! i understand that they have to do what they have to do...but still it sucks when it is you. so of course that is not fun, but it gets a little bit better; i called the course last week to set up a tee time for 9am, guy who answers the phone says, "is monday a holiday?", i say, "no", he says," it won't be a problem, come on out." well, i have played many courses that have the same system, show up and get in line, no tee times. i get there and they have a jr. clinic set up for the day and since they don't have a practice facility, it was on the fairway of number 1 and number 9 green. number one did not affect us, we got off before they could get there, but when we got to number 9, we were waved off and told to play the rest of the course and come back to finish at 9. ok not that bad, but really? so today was the cow farmer, the marine and a guy that i may not have mentioned before...he is the counter...he counts things for a living. hey we should call him the count, from sesame street...lmfao. except he usually is counting birdies while i count bogeys.

so all in all, course is good we just played it on the wrong day. for $20ish not bad at all, i will go back. stay tuned in for my next post, i am going to let you know about a local feud going on between my self and this other guy who plays golf...who is not regular. until then golf your balls.

duke university golf club

well just played a tournament round at duke university golf club...course was in great shape and quite green with all the rain we have had lately.

Greens were rolling pretty good but a tad slow for my liking. Had a great round of golf with 3 guys I had never met before...most of the were pretty regular guys. One of them was too spastic for the rest of us. We just paid him no attention and enjoyed our day of golf. duke has a lot of elevation change and if i blindfolded you and took you there you would never know you were in the middle of durham, nc. lots of old trees, a few of them in my way too. i must say that the guys at duke know what they are doing. when you go there and play there is a must...no not a must but an absolute must and this is a stop at the nineteen hole, to order a chicken salad sandwich on grilled wheat bread. i don't care how bad you play, this sandwich will make all the bad swings and all the bad breaks go away...you will sit there
in the outdoor eating area watching the big screen tv wondering if you could stop by again soon. it is so good i am taking my wife there for lunch in a few days.

great time was has by all and if you get the chance, go play duke as soon as you can. going to play the country club of zebulon in a few days, they have a super deal going on right now, so look for that post to come up soon. until then golf your balls.

golf shoes

i must admit i like a nice comfortable pair of shoes...and most regular guys who golf feel the same way. i mean we are walking around a lot and shoes that are not comfortable, well probably would affect your game. remember last year i think it was when fred couples showed up to a golf tournament in a pair of the now famous and often mimicked casual shoes? i thought he had just forgot to pack his golf shoes and the pro shop did not have his size? but seems ecco started making them and now they are really popular. i have seen several regular guys right here in nc wearing them. now there are several pro's wearing them or ones that look similar...and then there is tiger? what in the he double hockey sticks is the man thinking? i mean seriously? i saw those things he wears now and thought ok he has to wear those now because he has old man knees, but no...he chooses to wear them. i think we all know that tiger need to go back to being the ho he was and play some golf. i digress.

a regular guy who plays golf should have at least 2 pair, one white (have to admit it took me a couple of years before i broke down and bought some white shoes) and one black. several reasons for having two pair, not just for the fashion end of things, but what if you pull a move like i did once at riverwood with the cow farmer, jump a small ditch to get your wayward ball just to find out that the other side is as close to quicksand as it gets...yeah up to my ankles in yucky stuff.

not sure why shoes came to mind just now, but next time i will be writing a review about duke university golf club. i have played there a couple of times, but monday will be a tournament and with all the wet stuff we have been getting, it will either be soggy or green as all get out. until then, don't forget to golf your balls.
